Innovation and development of the music scene – nationally and internationally

Music projects is the hub in Statens musikverk – Music Development and Heritage Sweden’s undertaking to promote and to support the independent music scene and give funding to outstanding musical experiences throughout the country. We contribute to the growth of the music scene by being on the look-out for ways to create new audiences. We coordinate, connect and inspire new partnerships beyond boundaries.

Partnership with a focus

Our forte is our artistic and administrative competence, which we use to take on initiatives coming from the music scene and to coordinate collaborative projects of interest to the whole country. Music projects actively consults and engages in a dialogue with various music organizations. We contribute towards partnerships with festivals and fairs in Sweden and abroad, sometimes also including special action targeted at children and young people and gender equality issues.

Another important task is to support collaborative work and structures in which the music scene is encouraged to develop in cooperation with associations, organizations,education and businesses.

Funding the music scene

The creative landscape of the music scene is forever changing. We live in a world where traditional borders have faded out and where new synergies come out of collaborative work between partners who haven’t met earlier.

Music projects aims to widen the horizons on all levels through providing support to the music scene by listening to its needs. We promote encounters across boundaries: between genres, people, expressions, cultures and different parts of society.

We are building a platform for innovation and development, international and intercultural exchange and creative collaboration on the music scene.
